To all my American readers... Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm done for the day having coffee but haven't started the cooking yet ( I plan to make something today.. Sadly, we don't get turkey here in India, at least not that easily). It's a perk to having a home cooked meal... you don't have to go out to the restaurant and pay an outlandish amount for something that you don't like.
This morning as I lay (lie?) in bed, thinking about the upcoming holidays, Christmas and New Year and work and of course lack of time and money to even START shopping...
I had an image of me being pulled and shoved into the holidays like a mule. A stubborn mule, digging in their heels and refusing to go ahead. As a faceless body pulled the red halter and tried to to pull with all their might I told myself no matter how much I refuse to admit it's already the holiday season, it's not going to help. The holidays are here whether I like it or not. Whether I'm ready or not.
How strange to absolutely worry about the holidays instead of being excited and happy and loving them. This is odd for me. I don't like it.
Well, my coffee is getting cold and I have a food to prepare and stuffing to stuff. Remember Thanksgiving people... today is about thanking God for the blessings you have in your life and helping you get through the previous year. Thank Him for the harvest of food you are eating, the roof over your head and the friends in your life. Thank Him for your family and for this country that you are lucky to live in... you could be dying in Ethiopia or Africa, you could be in the middle of a drug war in Mexico, you could be under extreme strict leadership in China or North Korea.... be Thankful.
